The BiGART conference took place in Aarhus, Denmark, from June 17 to 18, 2025.

The BiGART conference (Biology-Guided Adaptive Radiotherapy), the 25th Acta Oncologica Symposium, took place in Aarhus, Denmark, from June 17 to 18, 2025. Robin Hegering and Prof. Dr. Armin Lühr represented our working group there with two presentations in the session "Late effects in particle therapy of central nervous system tumors".

As an invited speaker, Armin Lühr gave a presentation entitled "Beyond Dose in Proton Therapy", in which he highlighted innovative approaches and future prospects for dose calculation in radiotherapy and explained what stones and feathers have in common with the biological effect of different radiation qualities.

In his presentation entitled "Spatial distribution of astrocytes as a late response to partial-brain proton irradiation in mice", Robin Hegering presented the initial results of his doctoral project. The aim of this research is to investigate the influence of proton radiation on astrocytes within a macroscopic organism. The results presented offer approaches for further research into the role of astrocytes in the development of side effects in the radiotherapy of tumors with protons.

BiGART 2025 not only provided an excellent platform for the exchange of the latest scientific findings, but also the opportunity to make valuable contacts with other researchers in the field of radiotherapy.

We look forward to incorporating the knowledge gained into our future research and would like to thank the conference organizers for this successful event!
