Further information

The spectrum of career opportunities for medical physicists is diverse and this web presence should be understood as an introduction only. The following pages can be a starting point for further information on training and careers in medical physics.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Physik e.V. (DGMP)

The DGMP is the German society for medical physics and was founded in 1969 in Stuttgart as a non-profit association. The DGMP promotes science in medical physics as well as medical technology and actively shapes the research, development and application of physical-technical methods in medicine. The DGMP is equally a discussion and dialogue platform for the exchange of experience between members from the clinical, industrial and scientific communities. Annual DGMP conferences provide the framework for the presentation and discussion of scientific results as well as the opportunity for further education of physicists working in medicine from different fields of application.

Junge Medizinphysik (JMP) - DGMP working group

The JMP („Young Medical Physics”) is a working group of the DGMP and is specifically dedicated to the interests of future medical physicists and medical physics experts (MPE). The JMP has a mentoring program, informs about possible career paths for medical physicists, salary expectations and presents relevant topics around medical physics in its blog. In this way, the JMP helps prospective medical physicists find their way in an exciting and diverse work environment.

Wiki Medizinische Physik

Three graduates of the Medical Physics program at TU Dortmund University, who are now working as MPEs in different departments, form the team of authors of the website „Wiki Medizinische Physik“ („Wiki Medical Physics”). This website pursues the goal of bundling knowledge about medical physics in clinical practice and making it available in an understandable way. It represents an organized reference work for all occupational groups exposed to radiation. In addition, you will find news about medical physics, information about training, job entry and salary, but also contributions to basic knowledge and descriptions of the application areas.

German Physical Society (DPG)

The DPG promotes the exchange of knowledge in physics and informs both the scientific community and the general public about current physics topics. Annual DPG meetings as well as many other scientific and public events consolidate this continuous dialogue. The exchange of experience in teaching, research and application as well as the promotion of young scientists and their professional future is equally important. The DPG acts as the voice of physics and contact for people interested in physics. Within the DPG, Nobel Prize winners meet young scientists and unite to form the largest physics professional society worldwide.
